The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly empathetic, detail-oriented Patient Support Specialist to help manage and optimize a pioneering healthcare chatbot platform. In this role, you will serve as the essential human safety net for our text-based CareBot, stepping in to manage patient conversations when the AI system requires human intervention to determine care-related logistics, post-diagnosis tracking, or peri-treatment support.
This is a high-trust position requiring exceptional professional judgment, absolute discretion with confidential information, and comfort navigating sensitive healthcare topics—including reproductive health care—in an entirely judgment-free manner. What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like

Conversation Monitoring: Actively monitor text-based patient conversation threads escalated from the proprietary CareBot platform when next steps are unclear.

Intent Identification: Carefully analyze historical interaction context to accurately determine patient intent, concerns, or logistical needs.

Knowledge Base Utilization: Select and deploy appropriate, pre-approved responses from the client's internal knowledge base to guide patients safely through their care journey.

Strategic Escalation: Route complex or highly sensitive conversations internally to medical personnel when a standard response is unclear.

HIPAA Compliance: Maintain a flawless standard of patient data security, ensuring strict adherence to HIPAA guidelines across all digital workflows.

Distributed Collaboration: Coordinate in real time with client operations teams via Slack, Jabber, or Microsoft Teams to flag system inefficiencies or platform bugs.

24/7 Shift Coverage: Participate in a balanced, rotating full-time shift schedule (including days, evenings, overnights, and weekends) to ensure continuous patient safety.
What You Bring

Experience: 2+ years of professional experience in customer support, patient advocacy, medical virtual assistance, or healthcare operations.

Communication: Flawless written English skills, enabling you to communicate with patients clearly, calmly, and empathetically.

Discretion & Sensitivity: Proven history of managing confidential data, with absolute comfort supporting healthcare environments that handle abortion-related care.

Analytical Judgment: High attention to detail with the ability to decipher intent from text string variations and strictly follow defined scripting protocols.

Compliance Ready: Willingness to complete specialized client-provided onboarding, platform mechanics, and formal HIPAA certification.

Schedule Flexibility: Complete willingness to work a rotating 40-hour weekly schedule to accommodate a global 24/7 patient base (with peak coverage windows aligned to 12:00 PM - 9:00 PM US Eastern Time).
Bonus Points if:
- You have prior experience supporting a digital health startup, telehealth platform, or modern care delivery clinic.
- You hold an educational background in Nursing, Medicine, Healthcare Administration, or allied health fields.
- You have direct experience working with live chat, ticketing infrastructure (Zendesk, Intercom), or AI-assisted chatbot escalation systems.
- You possess active or previous HIPAA training certifications.
Salary Range: $5 - $6 per hour (Final offer based on skills and experience matched to role requirements)
