Who We Are
GrowthAssistant connects top marketing and operations talent with fast-growing companies that depend on great execution to scale. Founded in 2021 and named by Forbes as one of the best startups to work at, we’re a permanently remote team that runs on integrity, proactive candor, and a bias toward action — and we prioritize the human experience in everything we do. We hire for skill and for heart, and we invest in our people for the long haul.
The Opportunity
We’re hiring a YouTube Video Editor to join a fast-growing AI research and professional services company operating at the frontier of AI and robotics — owning recurring video production across long-form YouTube content, podcast and interview edits, and short-form social clips for the founder’s personal brand and company channels. You’ll turn raw interview and studio footage into polished, compelling content with strong narrative flow and visual judgment; this role is built for a creative, detail-oriented editor who can take a general brief, make smart independent decisions without needing every cut spelled out, and develop a strong sense of preferred editing style that improves output over time.
What Your Day-to-Day Will Look Like
-
Long-Form Video Editing: Edit at least one primary long-form YouTube video or interview per week — turning raw footage into polished, engaging content with clear narrative flow, strong pacing, and professional visual appeal.
-
Short-Form Clip Creation: Create 3–6 short-form video clips per week from longer interviews, podcasts, and thought leadership content — identifying strong soundbites, key moments, and story arcs and repurposing them into platform-ready videos for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and other social channels.
-
Post-Production & Finishing: Add captions, lower thirds, light graphics, transitions, music, b-roll, and other post-production elements to ensure every piece feels polished, modern, and professional.
-
Creative Judgment & Brief Interpretation: Review creative briefs, scripts, and reference examples to align editing style with the intended audience and content goal — applying independent creative judgment rather than waiting for highly detailed instructions.
-
File Management & Workflow: Maintain organized project files, exports, and version control; help establish repeatable editing templates, workflows, and best practices as the content engine scales.
-
Collaboration & Iteration: Collaborate with the team asynchronously and during US time zone overlap hours to incorporate feedback, iterate on edits quickly, and continuously improve output across the founder’s personal brand, company channels, and media/client projects.
What You Bring
-
Video Editing Experience: 3+ years of hands-on video editing experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating long-form YouTube, podcast, interview, thought leadership, or social-first video work — across both long-form and short-form formats.
-
Storytelling & Creative Judgment: Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to shape raw footage into engaging narratives — with a sharp sense of pacing, visual hierarchy, sound quality, and platform-specific best practices.
-
Social Clip Expertise: Proven experience creating short-form clips for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, or LinkedIn — with a strong eye for what performs on each platform.
-
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, or similar editing tools; ability to add captions, basic motion graphics, titles, b-roll, music, and branded visual elements.
-
Independence & Communication: Comfortable working from a general brief and making thoughtful creative decisions independently; strong communication skills and ability to collaborate asynchronously and during US time zone overlap hours.
Bonus Points if:
- You have experience editing content related to AI, robotics, technology, research, professional services, or executive thought leadership.
- You have experience editing podcast studio footage or multi-camera interviews.
- You have familiarity with AI-enabled creative or video production tools.
- You have basic motion graphics experience in After Effects or similar tools.
- You have experience creating repeatable video templates for recurring content series.
- You have experience supporting personal brand content for founders, executives, or creators.
- You have light thumbnail, social creative, or YouTube packaging experience.
